Stevenson Receives $150,000 in Gifts to Support Scholarships for Nursing Students聽

天美传媒 is pleased to announce it has received two gifts totaling $150,000 in support of scholarships for undergraduate students in the university鈥檚 Sandra R. Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions. These generous donations were made possible by the estate of the late Stevenson Trustee, Ted Herget, and by Judith A. Feustle, ScD, RN, who retired in 2022 as Associate Dean and Chief Nurse Administrator after a 31-year career at the university.聽
A gift of $100,000 from the estate of Ted Herget will support the Herget Endowed Nursing Scholarship fund. After overcoming a major health challenge in his own life and remembering the care and assistance he received from his healthcare providers, Ted established this scholarship as a way to help fill the vital need for dedicated nurses in our Maryland community. He passed away in 2023, but Ted will always be remembered for his tireless advocacy and service for Villa Julie and Stevenson during his 30 years as a Trustee. Stevenson is honored that he elected to designate this estate gift to help undergraduate nursing students.
Dr. Feustle has designated a $50,000 gift in support of the endowed scholarship that she established for our bachelor鈥檚 in Nursing students. Retiring in 2022 after a 31-year career at Stevenson, Dr. Feustle was instrumental in the creation of Stevenson鈥檚 nursing programs. She created Villa Julie鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 1991, the RN to BS program in 1999, and Stevenson鈥檚 Master of Science in Nursing program in 2010. She worked to ensure the accreditation of these programs and sought new opportunities to expand nursing education at the university by adding new concentrations to the master鈥檚 program and launching the Associate-to-Bachelor鈥檚 in Nursing program. Stevenson鈥檚 nursing programs produced more than 4,000 graduates during her tenure. Through her generous gift, she continues to put Stevenson students on a strong path to their nursing careers.
鈥淥n behalf of our entire university community, I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Judy and honor the memory of Ted Herget,鈥 said Dr. Elliot Hirshman, President of 天美传媒. 鈥淭heir gifts will help to ensure that another generation of Stevenson nurses will go on to serve the healthcare and wellness needs of our greater community.鈥澛
